Primary Care Centre, Ballinrobe
This new 2,067sqm Primary Healthcare facility, located on a greenfield site on the Claremorris Road, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo provides a one-stop-shop comprising of four GP suites, a dental surgery, mental health clinic, Public Health nursing consulting rooms, physiotherapy and administrative offices.
The two storey civic building, is set within a landscape-dominant environment and has been designed to provide frontage to the main road and also address the adjacent local authority housing scheme. The site is enclosed by a low stone wall & railing on all sides and to the east is bounded by dense woodland. Space has been allocated along the full length of the eastern boundary for a new pedestrian footpath and cycle way linking to the town, as part of a Mayo County Council Local Area Plan. The scheme provides car parking for 41 cars and caters for 30% expansion within the site. A set down area is located immediately adjacent the main entrance and this PCC has been provided with an ambulance base, as part of the building, serving the local area.. The building has been designed to achieve an A3 BER Energy Rating and is fully accessible to all.
COADY Architects were appointed by the HSE to achieve planning permission, DAC and prepare tender drawings, and the project was then tendered by the NDFA through the PPP model. COADY Architects were part of the winning bid team and took the project through construction to completion in November 2017.
