Clock Tower Building, Lower House, Church of Ireland, Grangegorman

Coady Architects were originally appointed to prepare Conservation Reports and recommended works on the 10 protected structures surviving on the Grangegorman Campus. The conservation of the buildings is central to the Masterplan and these buildings are part of the rich heritage of the Grangegorman Campus now being transformed to a new third level education and healthcare campus. The works involved stabilisation and refurbishment of the Clock Tower building as offices for the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA) and stabilisation only of the derelict Lower House and the deteriorating Church of Ireland building. In the Clock Tower, the scope of services included removal of modern interventions, renovation of the accommodation and new services. The central stairs was opened up and the original character of the space restored. In the Lower House the collapsed roof was removed, carefully recorded and partially reinstated, the walls were stabilised and partly repointed. Roof repairs and new flooring were undertaken in the Church of Ireland.
