Coláiste an Chraoibhίn, Fermoy
This project is a 3,846sqm stand-alone extension to Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Duntaheen Road, Fermoy, County Cork.
The new building provides for the school’s projected expansion, catering for an additional 290 mainstream pupils, increasing the long-term enrolment to 850 post-primary pupils. The extension includes a PE Facility; a single class base special needs unit, specialist teaching facilities lacking in the existing building, as well as a new playing pitch, ball courts and a running track.
The new 3 storey building was located to overlook the playing pitch and integrate into the existing steep site topography to mitigate planning risk. The building form creates a new courtyard social space between the existing school and is linked to the existing building with external covered walkways.
