Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh, Knocknacarra, Galway
The project comprised the construction of a new 3 storey school building of 4,100sqm with associated landscaping and site works on a 1.8Ha site. Accommodation consists of 24 No. Classrooms, a General Purpose Hall with a Servery area, a Staff Room, a Library and Resource Room, Special Education Tuition Rooms, and associated The building has a unique triangular shape and colourful appearance and, as a result, the geometry and material finishes brought about complex construction details both internally and externally. External materials included an extensive area of fibre cement cladding, brick and self-coloured render. Internal materials included painted precast concrete and plasterboard walls, carpet, vinyl and timber sports flooring. The project was completed through the rapid build school programme.
