Residential development of 90 apartments in a new apartment block and the conversion and refurbishment of the period house and gate lodge into 3 dwellings.
Herbert Hill is a nineteen century period house, a protected structure, within the urban core of Dundrum Village. Its large unkempt gardens provided an opportunity to provide apartments in the new expanded urban core, adjacent the recent Dundrum Town centre.
The new apartment block is situated to the north of the site, allowing gardens to separate it from the original house and maintaining the original avenue threaded through a belt of large mature trees, which screen the development from the busy Sandyford Road. The new building form is a compact form around a central landscaped podium, stepping from 5 to 7 stories above semi basement parking.
As Grade 1 conservation architects we also guided the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing house and gatelodge to provide 3 unique dwellings with associated private gardens, retaining the historic character of the site.
