Nazareth House Nursing Home, Dublin
Nazareth House is an existing nursing home setup by the Sisters of Nazareth and includes convent and residential accommodation for the sisters. The project involved the construction of a new building containing 90 bedrooms for use as a nursing home in line with best practice. The existing bedrooms were refurbished to provide residential accommodation for the Sisters of Nazareth and shared facilities for the nursing home.
The completed project provides a 120 bedroom nursing home, administration offices and a convent in an 8,000sqm new build (Phase 1) plus 5,000sqm of refurbished accommodation (Phase 2).
The design provides for a safe, comfortable environment for residents and respects their right to privacy, dignity and independence. The design required a sensitive approach to provide a comfortable and delightful home environment for residents and their visitors, comply with all HIQA standards and support efficient management of the care provided by staff. The project successfully integrates with the existing building and surrounding landscape. Household groups are clustered around dining and living room facilities with support areas to provide a greater sense of home and community. All bedrooms are single occupancy with ensuite bathrooms, with generous windows for good daylight and external aspect.
