St Joseph’s Centre for Children with Visual Impairment Masterplan, Drumcondra
The re-development of the St. Joseph’s Campus, comprising 56,000m2 accommodation will provide primary and secondary schools, pre-school and clinic for visually impaired children, based around the historic 16th, 18th and 19th century structures. The scheme includes 290 residential units, a public park and a new landscape setting. The masterplan transforms the use and environment of the estate and its buildings. The central area is devoted to the new St. Joseph’s Centre. The composition integrates the new and old in a coherent pattern. Pobalscoil Rosmini Post Primary School retains its current location with a junior GAA pitch. Housing is provided in a series of apartment buildings, set along a north-south axis, forming linked, private gardens. Along the eastern boundary there are terraced houses, to either side of a shallow court. A new public park provides an appropriate setting for the historic ensemble.
